Catherine E. McKenna, 80, of Orangeburg, died May 30, 2013.She was born June 8, 1932, in New York City to parents, Francis and Catherine Keegan, according to Hannemann Funeral Home, which handled her funeral arrangements and published her obituary. She married John, in 1956. Together they bought a home in Orangeburg where they built their life and raised their family. She was a stay-at-home mother of five children. She was a proud grandmother, affectionately known as "Nanny" by all nine of her grandchildren. Whether playing in the pool, making grilled cheese or playing Uno, she was adored by her grandchildren.Surviving are her husband of 57 years, John; her brother, Jack; four daughters, Joann Pierce and her husband, Ken, Sue-Ellen Matcovich and her husband, Charles, Kelly Zabel and her husband, Richard, Maureen Schroder and her husband, Kurt; a son, John McKenna and his wife, Dina; nine grandchildren, Christopher, Matthew, Jamie, Alyssa, Richard, John, Anthony, Hayley and Kurt.She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Catherine Keegan; three brothers, Frank, Thomas and Joseph, and a sister, Margaret; many nieces, nephews and friends.Her favorite times were those spent with family and friends, especially in her backyard, and no one was ever a stranger in her home.A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. Catharine's Church, Blauvelt, on June 3.Memorial contributions may be made to the Joe Raso Hospice Residence in New City.
