Carol Ann (McIlwaine) FreemanOf Westford, MA WESTFORD, MA -- Carol Ann Freeman, 75, of Westford, MA died at home on Monday November 3, 2014 after a five year struggle with dementia.Carol was born in Anderson, IN on June 17, 1939 to the late Frank and Sophie McIlwaine. She grew up in Arlington, MA where she graduated from Arlington High School in 1957. After earning a degree from Katherine Gibbs School of Boston in 1959, she worked in the Personnel Department of Cabot Corporation in Boston. In 1960, Carol became the bride of Robert M. Freeman and they resided briefly in Arlington. Carol and Robert moved to Westford, MA in 1961 where Carol would devote her life to raising her children and caring for her family. She loved gardening and over the years, planted and maintained a number of beautiful annual and perennial flower beds in her yard. Carol was a founding member of the League of Women Voters of Westford and the first president of the newly chartered branch. She was, for nearly twenty years, a Real Estate Broker with Emerson (later DeWolfe) Realtors in Chelmsford and Westford. Carol was best friend and the love of his life to her husband, Robert, who survives her and who will miss her more than words can say. She also leaves behind her dear children, Susan C. Freeman of Arlington, who helped her Mom and Dad so much through the long goodbye, and Michael S. Freeman of Union, KY. Also left are Susan's Husband, Marcelo A. Araya and Michael's wife Traci Freeman and their children, Kathryn J. and Christopher J. Carol was the sister-in-law of Thom H. and Claire B. Freeman of Wrentham, MA and aunt to their children, Thom H. Jr., Laura C. and Matthew M. Freeman. Carol was most fortunate to have had many close school, business and neighbor friends from her childhood and throughout her life who remained supportive and caring to the last. For these loyalties, her family offers their gratitude and thanks. FREEMAN -- Carol's family will look forward to receiving friends at visiting hours to be held 3:00 to 7:00 pm. on Thursday November 6, 2014 at the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME, 106 Middlesex St., Chelmsford, MA.
