Dr. Barbara K. Wright Dr. Barbara K. Wright, 89, died Sunday, January 18, 2009, in Tallahassee, Fla. The memorial service will be at 4 p.m. EST Saturday, January 24, at Holy Cross Anglican Church, 4859 Kerry Forest Parkway in Tallahassee. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Project of Tallahassee, 317 E. Call St., Tallahassee, FL 32301.Dr. Wright was a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and spent the past several years in Tallahassee to be near her family. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Oberlin College, her Master of Arts from the University of Pittsburgh and her Doctorate from Florida State University. She was a Professor of Transportation and Safety at both The Ohio State University and Central Missouri State University, where she retired as Professor Emerita.A Marine Corps veteran of World War II, where she served as 1st Lieutenant, she was also a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers, the Tallahassee Genealogical Society, Phi Delta Kappa Honor Society and Chi Omega Sorority. She was most recently a member of St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church and was a very active Lay volunteer with Kairos prison ministries.She is survived by three daughters, Martha Billings and Deborah Hartley, both of Tallahassee, and Patricia Lemon of Crawfordville; a son, Kenneth K. Wright of Chesterfield, Missouri; her beloved brother, William C. King; and eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her father, William Raffington King, and her mother, Anna Blatchford Collins King.
