ObituaryBarbara Jo Schmidt went to be with her Lord and Savior suddenly while on a trip to Muskegan, MI. Barbara was born in Hollywood, Florida on June 23, 1954 to Amos John & Janice Lee Schmidt. Her family moved to Fort Myers, FL in 1961. She was preceded in death by her beloved "Daddy", Amos John Schmidt.Barbara was a beautiful, vibrant, gentle, beloved soul, who will be sorely missed by all who knew her, both in Fort Myers, and in Denver, CO where she lived for many years. She loved "her" Rocky Mountains, classical music, fine art, reading, traveling and family get together. She had a great sense of humor and was an accomplished poet and artist.Barbara is survived by her loving mother, Janice Lee Kaupp of Fort Myers, her older sister Vicki Lee Kerr (Roger) of Kansas, her brother John Karl Schmidt (June) of Estero, her brother Paul Eric Schmidt (Rebecca) of Alva, her nephew Travis John Schmidt of Estero, her sister Vicki's two daughters, Elizabeth Lee Fay of MA and Stephanie Ann Fay of NH. Also mourning her loss are her uncles, Ted Murphy (Gwen) of N. Fort Myers, Robert D. Murphy (Naoko) of Colorado Springs and Donald E. Grimm (Ruth) of Dallas, TX. There will be no local services at this time, as it was her wish to be cremated and her remains to be returned to the Mountains she missed so much.Her devoted brother John & his wife June will honor her last wishes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ruth Cooper Center, 2789 Ortiz Ave., Fort Myers, FL 33905.
