Ann Altman Walker, 88, died Thursday, June 3, 2004, at her residence.Mrs. Walker was born in Williamsburg County on May 10, 1916, a daughter of the late William James Altman and Stella A. Altman. She was the former owner and operator of The Carolina Craftsman gift shop, and was the widow of Johnnie L. Walker.Mrs. Walker moved to Pawley's Island in the early 1950s, where she and Mr. Walker raised their three children in what they call "The Good Ole Days." She had a zest for life like none other and made the most of each day. She had a way of making everyone feel like they were someone special. She loved her beloved Pawley's Island, as well as reading, cooking, and especially her gardening. She was a founding member of the Pawley's Island Presbyterian Church. She will be missed by many.Surviving are two sons, Johnnie Walker, and his wife, Susan, of Edisto Island, and Larry Walker, of Pawley's Island; a daughter, Linda Walker-Smith, and her husband, Len, of N. Myrtle Beach; a brother, Van Altman, of New Jersey; six grandchildren, Dodie Hutcheson, and her husband, Freddie, of Savannah, Ga., Kellie Walker, of Greenville, Bo Smith, of Destin, Fla., Katherine Quickel, of Palm City, Fla., Scott Smith, of Lafayette, La., and Briana Walker, of Pawley's Island; three great-grandchildren, Lucy Hutcheson and Hank Hutcheson, both of Savannah, Ga., and Hudson Smith, of Lafayette, La.; and several nieces and nephews.Memorial services will be Sunday afternoon, June 6, 2004, at five o'clock, at the graveside at All Saints Church, Waccamaw, Churchyard.
