Williams, Alma Eileen (nee Cooper) January 22, 1916 - October 1, 2010 With heavy hearts, Alma's family announces that she passed away gently on October 1, 2010 at ninety-four years of age. Alma will be remembered with love by her four children and son and daughter-in-law; Robert, Kim, Jacqui (Terry), and Les (Jackie), as well as her eight grandchildren; Bradley (Lisa), Michael, Mark, Megan, Alex, Devon, Matthew and Erin. She was predeceased in 2005 by Al, her beloved husband of fifty-nine years, and her daughter-in-law, Cathie. Alma was known affectionately by family and close friends as 'Butch' throughout her adult life, a nickname bestowed on her by Al when they started dating. He and a good friend were both seeing young ladies named Alma, and from that day forward they became Butch and Tommy, which she accepted with surprisingly good humour. Throughout the course of her long and healthy life, Alma's greatest joy came from caring for others; being needed was the source of her happiness and like so many moms, she always thought of everyone else before herself. She loved to entertain, and whether it was a dinner party ending in a few hands of bridge, or a batch of favorite cookies for a grandchild, she gave us all her love wrapped up in something wonderful from her kitchen. A very special warmth has gone out of our lives with her passing, but her memory will certainly continue to glow in our hearts. She was a good mom, and she was loved. Alma's family would like to give special thanks to her extended family and friends for all the care, concern and love she and her family have received at this difficult time. Many thanks as well to the staff at the Princess Villa Care Home, and the wonderful doctors and nurses at the Pasqua Hospital ICU and Palliative Care ward for their kind and compassionate care. At Alma's request, the immediate family will hold a private memorial and celebration of her life. If they so wish, friends and family are invited to make a donation to the charity of their choice, in her memory.
