COX--Alma Mar, of Rye, NY passed away on April 26, 2009 at the age of 91. She was born on March 29, 1918 in Gloucester, MA, the daughter of Walter and Beatrice Court. She worked as a reporter for the Daily Item and Standard Star, and for MGM in the NY office and later opened the Prep Shop on Purchase St., in Rye with her husband Joe which later became known as J.P. Cox, Ltd. Mrs. Cox married Joseph P. Cox on January 1, 1942. He predeceased her in 1971. She is survived by two sons: Joseph Cox and wife Vickie of Rye; Walter Cox (the actor Bud Cort) of Los Angeles, CA. Three daughters: Tracy Berkman and her husband Ed of Chappaqua, NY; Kerry Cox of Larchmont, NY; Shelly Dufour and husband Bob of Harrison, NY. The family will receive friends at the Graham Funeral Home, 1036 Boston Post Road, Rye, NY, on Tuesday from 4-8pm. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at the Church of the Resurrection at 10am. In lieu of flowers donations are requested in her memory to Hospice of Westchester and The Osborn, Rye, NY.
