Alice Marie Ryan of Binghamton Alice Marie Ryan, 98, of Binghamton, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2009, at Elizabeth Church Manor Nursing Home, where she had been a resident for the past three-and-a-half years. She was predeceased by her husband, William J. Ryan Jr.; her brothers, Arthur (Dorothy), Caddy and Douglas Brown; and her baby sister, Ruth. She is survived by her four children, William (Kathleen) Ryan of Cazenovia, NY, James (Carol) Ryan of Apalachin, NY, Sarah (Jerome) Ford of Binghamton, NY and Matthew (Catherine) Ryan of Johnson City, NY; one sister-in-law, Mary Brown of San Jose, CA. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, William Joseph, Colleen, Michelle, Kathryn, Steven R., Mitchell, Jenny, Kevin, Steven F., Mark, and Jessica; as well as 15 great-grandchildren. Alice was a member of St. James Church, Johnson City. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She thoroughly loved children of all ages. She was always good-natured and her quick wit brought many smiles. She was a very loyal and loving person and a good friend to all. She will be dearly missed. The family would like to extend their most sincere thanks and gratitude to all the nurses, aids and staff at Elizabeth Church Manor and in particular the Second Floor personnel. Funeral Services will be held at the J.F. Rice Funeral Home, Inc., 150 Main St., Johnson City, Tuesday at 10 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. at St. James Church, where a Funeral Mass will be offered. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Whitney Point. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those wishing may make memorial contributions in Alice's name to Elizabeth Church Manor Nursing Home, 863 Upper Front St., Binghamton, NY 13901.
