VALATIE Alice Hand Kelly, 93, of Valatie, passed away Monday, August 30, 2004 in Barnwell Health Facilities, Valatie. Born October 3, 1910 in Kinderhook, she was the daughter of the late John Clinton and the late Alice Edwards (Osborn) Hand and the wife of the late William J. Kelly. She was a 1929 graduate of Hudson High School. She then earned her bachelor's degree at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs in 1933. She then became a registered nurse for Mary McClellan Hospital in Cambridge, the Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson and the Barnwell Nursing Home in Valatie before retiring. Mrs. Kelly was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Valatie and Rebekka's Lodge in Valatie. She is survived by her son, John W. Kelly of Valatie; her sister, Adela Hand Hiller of Valatie; three grandchildren, John W. Jr., Pamela Jean and James Patrick Kelly. Alice is also survived by three nieces, one nephew and several cousins. One brother, John Osborn Hand predeceased her. Friends may call Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. in the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, Rt. 9, Valatie. Funeral will be held at St. John the Baptist Church, Route 9, Valatie, Thursday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in the church's cemetery.
