"Babe" Nolet passed away at the age of 89 on Sept. 28, 2009.Born on Dec. 14, 1919, he was the last child of the late Alfred and Mary (Lapointe) Nolet of Berlin. He was the last surviving member of his seven siblings.Alfred was born and raised in Berlin. He enlisted in the Army and served during World War II while stationed in Newfoundland. After being honorably discharged, he returned to Berlin where he worked until his retirement from the Brown Co. pulp mill in Berlin.He then moved to Arizona, which he referred to as "God's country." He later moved back to Berlin to be near family. His last move was to the New Hampshire Veterans Home in Tilton, where "Al" enjoyed many activities, especially sharing stories about his many life experiences.Alfred is survived by his three children, MaryJane Tardif of Berlin, Peter Nolet of Milan, and Diane Towle; six grandchildren, Mandy Tardif of Kentfield, Calif., Erin Sacks of Berlin, Christy Bardeen of Berlin, Tony Nolet of Dummer, Rosie Towle of Derry, and William Towle Jr. of Loudon; three great-grandchildren, Gavin Bardeen of Berlin, and Eden and Layla Sacks of Berlin.Friends and relatives are invited to attend a memorial service which will be celebrated on Friday, Oct. 2, at 2:30 p.m. at the State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.Paquette-Neun Funeral Home www.neunfuneralhomes.com in Northfield is assisting with arrangements.
