AUGUSTA, Ga. - First Lieutenant William Joseph Kerwin, 91, of Augusta, Georgia passed away Saturday, May 7, 2011. Mr. Kerwin retired after twenty-seven dedicated years of service with the United States Army. He served in WWII and Korean Conflict. Mr. Kerwin also retired with thirteen years of service from MCG as director of housekeeping. "Papa" was a dedicated family man. He was devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren. He immensely enjoyed times shared together. Mr. Kerwin is survived by his beloved wife, Marianne M. Kerwin of Augusta; daughter, Pamela (Bill) Arnold of Augusta; two sons, William J. (Alba) Kerwin of Navarre, FL and Terry (Gwin) Kerwin of Augusta; sister, Barbara Brown of Bath, Maine; nine grandchildren, Patricia Kerwin-Lovett, Rebecca Anderson, Jennifer Hendrick, Nicole Arnold, Thomas Arnold, Katherine Kerwin, Laura Kerwin, Josie Broome and Ashley Minnerly; and many well loved great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2607 Lumpkin Road, Augusta, Georgia 30906 in William's memory. Special gratitude is extended to the staff of Charlie Norwood Medical Center for the exemplary care and compassion shown to "Papa" and his family.
