Obituary of William-Henry-Andrew Abbott

ABBOTT, William Henry Andrew January 10, 1937 March 28, 2012 Our hearts are heavy with the loss of our dad (Billy). After a rough battle with cancer, Dad passed at Nanaimo Regional Hospital with family by his side. He is survived by his wife Valerie of 55 years, their three sons, Gary, Greg, and Russell and five grandchildren who were all very fond of him. Dad's smile was contagious and he lit up a room when he entered. He loved spending time with family and friends for which he had many. He was a good soul and had a positive influence on anyone he knew or met. Dad was an elementary school teacher, Vice Principal, and Principal in the Victoria area for 35 years and will be remembered by many of his students as one of their favourites. Dad was very athletic as a youth and in the 1950's was often local Sports Headline news for his outstanding soccer play. As well, Billy was a long time member of Victoria Curling Club and later Parksville/Qualicum. Retirement years had him enjoying golf and he was a member of Eaglecrest Golf Club in Qualicum. His vast array of family and friends will miss him deeply. There will be a Celebration of Life to honour Billy on April 15 at 1:00 PM at the Legion Hall in Qualicum.
