William B. Bacon - SAVANNAH - William B. Bacon, 86, passed away Thursday, March 8, 2012 at Candler Hospital. He was born in Savannah and graduated from Savannah High School in 1944. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Battle of the Bulge as a member of the 78th Lightning Division. He was a 1949 graduate of The Georgia Institute of Technology, earning a degree in Electrical Engineering. He was employed by the Savannah Sugar Refinery and retired after 42 years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Temple. He was also a member of the Alee Shrine Temple, Patrol Unit. His parents, William Bacon and Alma Lanier Bacon, preceded him in death. He is survived by his sister, Jacquelyn Bacon Alderman of Savannah, a nephew, Tom (Pamela) Alderman of Marietta, and a niece, Lynn (Joseph) DeWitt of Richmond Hill. He is also survived by two great-nieces, Catherine DeWitt and Emily Alderman, and two great-nephews, Patrick Alderman and Matthew DeWitt. The family will receive family and friends at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 19, 2012 at Fairhaven Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel.
