Obituary of W. -Allen Henderson

HENDERSON _ On December 20, 2002, W. Allen Henderson passed away at Peace Arch Hospital, White Rock, BC, with his family by his side. Allen was born in Gladstone, Manitoba on March 18, 1919. He will be fondly remembered by his wife Rose who resides in Finlay Pavilion in White Rock and his son Don Henderson (Ruth) and daughter June MacLean (Don) and grandchildren Kim, Sean, Bob and Jill. After leaving the family farm in Kelwood, Manitoba, Al joined the Royal Canadian Air Force where he served until the end of WWII. Then he joined Trans Canada Airlines (Air Canada) in aircraft maintenance in Winnipeg and Dorval until his retirement in 1974. While living in Dorval, Al and Rose spent many weekends at their Falcon Lake, Manitoba cottage which later would become their first retirement home. They followed their children to the West Coast and lived on 20th Avenue in the White Rock area until Al moved to the Vinewood Apts., in order to be close to Rose in Finlay Pavilion. Al and Rose enjoyed their daily walks along Crescent Beach where they would visit other walkers. Al's recreational activities included curling, golf and gardening. At Al's request there will not be a service so we will remember him in our own special way. In lieu of flowers, donations could be made to the Peace Arch Hospital Foundation. The family wishes to express their thanks to the caring staff at the Peace Arch Hospital including Drs. Prentice and Gayton.
