Obituary of Therese-Katherine Quinlan


Therese Katherine Dial (nee Quinlan) of Denville, N.J., formerly of Montclair, N.J. and Glen Ridge, N.J., transitioned at St. Clare's Hospital in Denville, N.J. on Monday, Aug. 16, 2010. The funeral from the Hugh M. Moriarty Funeral Home, 76 Park St., Montclair, N.J., is on Friday, Aug. 20, 2010, at 8:30 a.m., then to Immaculate Conception Church, North Fullerton Avenue, Montclair, N.J., where at 9:30 a.m. a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. Interment to follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Directions and online condolences can be found at www.moriartyfuneralhome.com. Born on June 26, 1924, in East Orange, N.J., to Jane Mead and Jere P. Quinlan, Therese was a 1942 graduate of Montclair High School. She worked for the family hosiery business in the Empire State Building in New York City. In February 1960, she married Thomas E. Dial; he preceded her in death on April 21, 2002. Therese, who lived most of her life in Montclair and Glen Ridge, volunteered at the Red Cross and continued to help others in her spare time throughout her life. She was a member of the Third Order of the Carmelites at Mount Carmel Church in Montclair, N.J. Therese will be remembered especially for her kindness, compassion and caring of others, her religious devotion, her sense of humor, her laugh and her beautiful smile. Therese is survived by her children, Margaret Dial, Thomas E. Dial III, Jane Dial Grande and Anne Fox; her grandchildren whom she adored so much, Dakota and Charles Grande, Caroline and Thomas E. Dial IV and Thomas Fox, and her sister, Rita Holden of Hartford, Conn.
