Obituary of Teresa-Marie Simms

BRASELTON, Ga. – Teresa Marie Simms, 100, passed away Thursday (Nov. 6, 2014) at her home. She was born March 24, 1914, in Allegany, N.Y., the daughter of the late Henry and Mary Lippert Carls. She was married to Frank Simms, who predeceased her.A former longtime resident of Allegany, she worked as a licensed practical nurse at St. Francis Hospital until her retirement and was a member of St. Bonaventure Church.Surviving are a son, Jeffrey (Linda) Simms of Jacksonville, Fla.; two daughters, Kathleen (George) Oneil of Braselton and Julianne (John) Bazow of Richmond, Va.; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Frank, she was predeceased by a daughter, Penelope "Penny" Clabeaux; seven sisters; and two brothers.Friends are invited to a memorial Mass of Christian burial at 9:30 a.m. Thursday (Nov. 13, 2014) in St. Bonaventure Church, Allegany. Father James Vacco, OFM, will be celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany. Memorial donations in her memory may be made to the Allegany Fire Department, 186 W. Main St., Allegany, NY 14706. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., Olean.
