Obituary of Ruth L. Wheeler


Ruth Lorraine (Mattinson) Wheeler, of Brockton, formerly of Abington and Holbrook, passed away on Nov. 24, 2012, at the age of 81. Born and raised in Brockton, Ruth graduated from Brockton High School, Class of 1949. She then went on to receive her Bachelor of Science Degree from Bridgewater State College in 1953. For over 25 years, Ruth taught second grade in the Brockton and Hanson school systems. During her time teaching, as well as after her retirement, she was a member of several associations, including the N.E.A. (National Education Association), N.C.R.T.A. (Norfolk County Retired Teachers Association) and R.E.A.M. (Retired Educators Association of Massachusetts). Ruth was the wife of the late Ernest W. Wheeler. Loving mother of Joyce Kameese of Whitman and Janet Holmes of Abington. Devoted sister of Betty Swanson of Fla. and Barbara Nagle of Buzzards Bay. Dear grandmother of Joshua and Bethany Kameese and Eric, Adam and Ryan Holmes. Great grandmother of Alexis Grace Kameese. Daughter of the late Warren V. and Eva (VanBuskirk) Mattison. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Service on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Cartwright Funeral Home, 69 So. Franklin St. (Rte. 37), Holbrook. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ruths name to the Emmanuel House, 25 East Nilsson St., Brockton, MA 02301 or to Old Colony Hospice, 1 Credit Union Way, Randolph, MA 02368.
