Obituary of Rufus-Edward Wheeler

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today at Ragland United Methodist Cemetery for Rufus Edward Wheeler, 1917-2009, 91, Pell City, who passed away Monday, July 27, 2009. Usrey Funeral Home directing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus Anderson Wheeler and Lily Alice Wheeler; a son, R. Wheeler Jr.; his wife of 65 years, Kate Liggan Wheeler; and son-in-law, Charles Richard Archer. Mr. Wheeler was a World War II veteran. He was retired from National Cement Company, where he worked for 44 years. He was a member of Pell City First Baptist Church and had served in several capacities, and was a member of the DUO Sunday School class that he loved so much. He is survived by one daughter, Pat Archer. Pallbearers will be David Wheeler, Mike Wheeler, Dick Bennett, Ricky Haynes, Holley Smith and Jimmy Pollard. There will be a visitation from 10 to 10:30 this morning at Usrey Funeral Home.
