Obituary of Robert Sims

Robert Sims, 73, of Tuscumbia, died Friday, June 3, 2011. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Sunday at Morrison Funeral Home, of Tuscumbia. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home chapel, with burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Tuscumbia. Pastor Bubba Cole, of Living Faith Church, will officiate the service.Mr. Sims was a native of Tuscumbia and a retired supervisor with the Tuscumbia Street Department. He was a loving and caring father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He was a great example to all.He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Haid Sims; mother, Myrtle Green McKinney; son, Bobby Sims; daughter, Donna Sims; brothers, Leroy and Eugene Sims, and Buddy, Jerry Wayne and Johnny McKinney; sister, Juanita Grissom; and his dog, Folluh.Survivors include his daughters, Debi Dean, Kathy Lundy and Deanna Sims; grandchildren, Joey Dean, Kyle Lundy and Korey Lundy; great-grandchildren, Hunter Isaiah Dean and Gabriella Faith Dean; brothers, David and Roland McKinney; and sister, Margaret "Cricket" Byrd.Pallbearers will be Mark Kimbrough, Wayne Carruthers, Howard Lee Davis, Earl Willard, Brian James and Mark Cougle.Special thanks to the staff of the CTRU unit at ECM Hospital.
