Obituary of Robert-D. James


JAMES, Robert "Bob" D., 70, of Apollo Beach, Fla., passed away Monday, August 11, 2003. Preceded in death by his parents, David S. and Margaret Fredenberg James. He is survived by his wife, Diane Cunningham James; son, Thomas James of Pembroke Pines, Fla.; daughters, Robin and Laurie James, both of Bradenton, Fla.; step daughter, Becky Scalese of Pembroke Pines, Fla.; brother, Donald James of Warren, Ohio; and grandchildren, Andrew, Ashley, Timothy, Allison, Melani, Daniel, Alexis and Anthony, Jr. A native of Niles, Ohio, he resided in Tampa Bay area since 1975 coming from Warren, Ohio. He was head football coach at Toledo Libby H.S. Toledo, Ohio; Salem H.S. Salem, Ohio; Olentangy H.S. Delaware, Ohio; Reynoldsburg H.S. Reynoldsburg, Ohio; Manatee H.S. Bradenton, Fla. and East Bay H.S. Gibsonton, Fla., where he also s erved as human relations specialist. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and was of the Lutheran faith. Bob was inducted into the Warren, Ohio Sports Hall of Fame in 1999 and Florida Athl etic's Hall of Fame. The family will receive friends Friday, August 15, 2003 from 4-6 p.m. at the Stowers Brandon Chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in his m emory.
