Obituary of Robert-C. Hagerthy

ELLSWORTH - Robert C. Hagerthy, 77, died April 9, 2010, at the Maine Veterans Home, Bangor, after a long illness. He was born March 13, 1933, in Ellsworth, the son of Chandler L. and Clarissa (Strout) Hagerthy. Bob graduated from Ellsworth High School, Class of 1951, and served four years in the U.S. Air Force. He married Sylvia Mason of Bangor. They would have celebrated 50 years of marriage in August. Bob was employed at Sikorsky Aircraft, Stratford, Conn., as a flight mechanic for 30 years. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed Bayside, boating on Long Island Sound, antique cars, tractors and his cat, Baby. Surviving in addition to his wife, Sylvia, are his two daughters, Karen Willard and her husband, Ben, of Corinth and Sandra Hillman and her husband, Jim, of Holden; three grandchildren, Clarissa Hillman, Mackenzie and Chandler Willard; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, George. A graveside service will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, April 15, at Woodbine Cemetery, Ellsworth, with the Rev. Robert T.
