Obituary of Robert-Alan Parr


PARR, ROBERT ALAN, 87, of Germantown, OH, formerly of Carlisle, OH, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2007 at Hospice of Dayton. Alan was born in Louisville November 11, 1919 to the late Edward and Rose Parr. He was a graduate of Manual High School in Louisville and a graduate of the University of Kentucky. During high school, Alan excelled in football, where he was all-state and received a scholarship to UK to play football as offensive and defensive tight end. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a retired teacher and football coach from Franklin High School. Esteemed Father, teacher and coach, Mr. Parr coached generations of Carlisle and Franklin students. An avid sportsman and golfer, Mr. Parr's kindness and continual good humor are carried forward by his five sons. After retirement, Alan and his wife Lorraine moved to Santee, SC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Parr; and sister, Evelyn Morris. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine (Terhune) Parr; five sons, Thomas Means of Lebanon, OH, Dennis Means of Mason, OH, Richard Parr of Carlisle, OH, Mick Parr of Germantown and Ronald Parr of Andersonville, TN; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the Arpp & Root Funeral Home Germantown. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton.
