Obituary of Richard E. Bacon

UPTON Richard E. Bacon, 72, of Upton, died Friday, Jan. 16, 2009, at his residence. He was the husband of Patricia F. (Stand) Bacon. A resident of Upton for 37 years, Mr. Bacon was employed as an accountant at Nelmor Co. Inc. in North Uxbridge for more than 35 years before his retirement. In addition to his employment at Nelmor Co. Inc., he was a senior tax advisor for H & R Block in Webster and Whitinsville for the last 12 years. Mr. Bacon was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was also a longstanding member at the Whitinsville Golf Club. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Keith R. Bacon of Tampa, Fla.; one daughter, Karen E. Bacon of Worcester; one brother, Gerald A. and his wife, Barbara Bacon of Whitinsville; one niece, Lisa Bacon; and many cousins. A funeral service will be held at 9 a.m., on Wednesday, Jan. 21, from the Buma Funeral Home (www.bumafuneralhome.com), 480 Church St., Whitinsville, followed by a Mass of the Resurrection at 10 a.m., at St. Patricks Church, 1 Cross St., Whitinsville. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, Jan. 20, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
