Born April 1, 1918, passed into the Glory of his Heavenly Father January 29, 2015.Raymond was predeceased by his first wife, Annie Irene Maxwell; his second wife, Catherine Hoover Sanford; his parents, Horace C. Wheeler & Sarah Elizabeth Coleman Wheeler; and brothers, Robert Earl, Clayton, John & James Wheeler.He is survived by a sister, Sarah Lamb of Nashville; nephew, Jack (Anita) Wheeler of Nolensville; step son, Kenneth (Phyllis) Sanford of Nolensville; step daughter, Cheryl Sanford of Spring Hill; 6 step grandchildren; 2 step great-grandchildren, also great niece and nephew; with 6 great-great nieces and nephew; and special friend, Polly Gentry. Many thanks to his caregiver, Calvin Wheeler and the staff at NHC Place at Cool Springs.Raymond retired from AT&T with 45 years of service, beginning work in 1937 when the company was Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph. He served in WWII, receiving the American Theater Ribbon, the WWII Victory Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with 2 Bronze Stars. He was a member of Nolensville Church of Christ.Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, February 1, 2015 at 3 p.m., at Woodbine Funeral Home, Hickory Chapel, 5852 Nolensville Road, by Bro. Dan Gilbert.Graveside services and Interment with Military Honors at 10 a.m. Monday, at Woodlawn Cemetery.
