Phyllis Jeannette James Passed away peacefully with her family at her side on April 13, 2014 at RUH at the age of 84. She is survived by her husband George, daughters Phoebe (Randy) Cline and their children Nolan, Alyssa, Kara and Braden; Megan (Doug) Daverne and their children Lauren, Andrew, Stephen and Michael; brother Ralph Hudson (Shirley Gossen); nephew David Hudson (Chris Niecker); niece Leslie Hudson and her children Jesse and Danny; and numerous cousins. Phyllis was predeceased by her parents, Norman and Jeannette Hudson. Born on March 28, 1930 in Weyburn, Saskatchewan, Phyllis moved to Saskatoon in 1944 and attended Nutana Collegiate and City Park Collegiate. She convocated from the University of Saskatchewan in 1952 with a Bachelor of Education, and then taught in high schools in Prince Albert, Rosetown, Swift Current, and Saskatoon. In 1963 Phyllis married George James with whom she shared 51 years of love and happiness. They had two children, Phoebe and Megan. Phyllis was an active member of First Baptist Church from 1944 to the present. She was involved in many different community organizations including the Canadian Federation of University Women, the Council of Women, the Canadian Institute of International Affairs, and Grandmothers for Grandmothers. Phyllis treasured her family and friends, and loved spending time with them at her cottage at Emma Lake. Throughout her life she enjoyed travelling to many destinations around the world. Her interests included creating stained glass pieces, cake decorating and working in her yard both in the city and at the cottage. The family would appreciate donations in lieu of flowers to the Hudson Memorial Fund, First Baptist Church, or to the Canadian Cancer Society. The Memorial Service will be held at First Baptist Church, Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 11:00 a.m., conducted by Rev. Dr. Paul Matheson. An Interment for family members will be held at the Woodlawn Cemetery prior to the Memorial Service. Courtesy parking is available at the Saskatoon Funeral Home.
