->PRESQUE ISLE - Phyllis A. James, 89 died peacefully surrounded by her family Wednesday morning June 25, 2014 at a Presque Isle health care facility. She was born in Presque Isle, Sept. 10, 1924, the daughter of Moses and Della (Horsman) Melville.She worked as a sales clerk for a number of years at Marston's Book Store and at Wray's Flower Shop in Presque Isle. Phyllis was a 70 year member of the Grant Memorial Methodist Church.She is survived by three daughters; Glenda Johnston and her husband, Dave of Greenbush, Gloria Ward of Virginia, and Gayle James of Presque Isle, a son, Gerry James and his wife, Carol of Presque Isle, a daughter-in-law, Gail James of North Carolina, nine grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a very special friend, Tammy Walton of Presque Isle. Phyllis was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence E. James, a son, Barney James, a grandson, Brian James, two sisters; Dorothy Fuller and Virginia Skillins, and three brothers, Ed, Phil, and John Melville.A graveside service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Fairmount Cemetery with Rev. Bernard Brown officiating. A reception will be held immediately following the service at Grant Memorial Methodist Church.
