Obituary of Paul-Etienne Gauthier


Funeral services for Hearst resident Paul-Étienne Gauthier, 79, of 915 George St. were held Nov. 22, 2002. He died Nov. 16 at Notre-Dame Hospital following a several-year battle with cancer. Born June 21, 1923 in Quebec, he came to the area 25 years ago. A mine worker in the Manitouwadge area and later a bushworker near Hearst, he was described as a strong and caring person who enjoyed fishing and hunting. Predeceased by his daughter Christine Gauthier of Hearst this past March, he leaves a son Louis Gauthier of North Bay, a sister Hermine St-Laurent of Gatineau, Quebec, and grandsons Michel and Mario Dionne, and granddaughters Valérie Dionne and Cassandra and Cynthia Gauthier. Rev. Rémi Lessard officiated the morning service at the Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption Cathedral. Interment followed at the Monseigneur Grenier Cemetery.
