Obituary of Mr. -William-E. Olsson


NEVILS, Ga. - Mr. William E. "Bill" Olsson, age 76, died Monday, December 19th, 2011, following a brief illness. The Savannah, Georgia, native was the son of the late Otto and Myrtle Olsson. Bill served as a Merchant Marine and then joined the U.S. Marine Corps, in which he served for four years. Upon the completion of his military service, Mr. Olsson began his love for electrical service, owning and operating General Contractors of Statesboro for 30 years, prior to his retirement. He was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, a member of the Ogeechee Lodge #213 F&AM, Alee Shrine Temple Savannah, the Statesboro Shrine Club, where he was past president; the American Legion Post 90 and Past Department Commander of the American Legion Department of Georgia. Mr. Olsson was a member of the Harville Baptist Church. During his retirement, Bill enjoyed fishing and cherished the time that he spent with his grandchildren, Nicole, Bryson and Alayna Grace, and the memories they made. He was preceded in death by two brothers, three sisters and a grandson. Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Bobbie Olsson of Nevils; five sons and three daughters-in-law, Brian and Erika Scott of Nevils, W.E. Olsson Jr. of Claxton, Danny and Brenda Olsson of Hinesville, Randy Christianson of Brooklet and Kenneth and Stacey Christianson of Nevils; five daughters and a son-in-law, Sandi Fowler of Nevils, Joyce and Frank Creel of Brooklet, Selisa Harn of Richmond Hill, Kathy Lively and Patty Zimmerman of Florida; 23 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro. The funeral service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Dr. Marty Waters officiating. Interment, with Masonic Rites, will be in the Trinity Baptist Church Cemetery in Nevils. Pallbearers will be Jon Priest, Ricky Price, Brad Coley, Wayne Williams, Hoyt Daughtry and Larry Cartee. Honorary pallbearers will be all area Shriners and American Legion members. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Alee Temple Crippled Children's Fund, c/o Alee Shrine, P.O.
