Obituary of Mossie-Lee Jackson


Jackson, Mossie Lee, age 100, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, November 9, 2009. Mossie was born in Cochran, GA, she was the third oldest of 16 siblings to the late Timothy and Emma Wimberly. She spent most of her early years in Georgia, where she met and married the late Sam Jackson, to this union 10 children were born, five preceded her in death; Lillie Mae, Marie, Grace, Mary and Frances. Mossie and her late husband, Sam Jackson, moved to Florida in the early 1940's as farm workers; later they became "share-croppers" and lived in an area known as Blount's Quarters located off Northeast Sixth Street and Fifth (Pioneer) Avenue, Pompano. She is a retiree of the Broward County School System. She was the Mother Emeritus of the Greater Antioch Missionary Baptist Church of Pompano Beach. She leaves to mourn Samuel Jackson, Elizabeth Jackson, Helen Price, Betty McFadden and Margaret Joseph; 26 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren, 58 great-great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-great-grandchildren. Funeral Services to be held at Greater Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Pompano Beach, FL, on Saturday, November 14, 2009, at 1:00 p.m.
