Obituary of Mary-Jane Cane

CANE, Mary Jane (nee Robertson) - After many years struggling with illness, Mary passed away peacefully on August 21, 2011 at Community Nursing Home in Pickering. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Don; children Alan, Christine, Jennifer and Jim; and her six grandchildren. Mary will be forever remembered and greatly missed by the Robertson and Cane families as well as by her many friends. Mary was predeceased by her parents Hazel and Frank Robertson, sister Joan Shaw, brother Robin Robertson and sister Georgina Robertson. Mary was born in Newmarket, Ontario on March 1, 1947. She spent most of her life in Pickering where she raised her family and started a successful local business, Shear Magic Hair Design. She had many interests though her true passion was making her house a home and tending to her gardens. To all those who made inquiries into Mary's well being over these last difficult years and to the staff at the nursing home, many thanks for your kindness and concern. A memorial reception for family and friends will be held on Saturday, September 24 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at The Simple Alternative Funeral Centre, 1057 Brock Road, Pickering (905-686-5589). Memorial donations would be appreciated and can be made to the Princess Margaret Hospital, The Gerry & Nancy Pencer Brain Trust Foundation. Mary, you left us too soon, but you will live in our hearts forever.
