HARA - Mary, theatre actress, died July 6 in Englewood, NJ. Born Mary Lou Blattspieler in 1927, she grew up in Nebraska, graduated from Ripon College in WI, then earned a Master's degree from Yale School of Drama. She made her Broadway debut in the National Repertory Theatre production of The Crucible in 1963-64. As extensive as her career was On and Off-Broadway, she was most proud of her work with Eva LeGallienne, being in the national tour of Equus, and her vast regional work. Mary moved from NYC to the Actors' Fund Retirement Home in 1990; a voracious reader, she was a force in creating the Home's library. As recently as last year, she performed with a group of residents and a local theatre troupe in "Lives of the Times". She is survived by brother SF Blattspieler, several nieces and nephews and many friends. Mary will be remembered for her intelligence, wit and passion for her art.
