Obituary of Mary-Elizabeth Kendall


->New London - Mary Elizabeth Kendall, 84, of Thames St., died Sunday morning, Jan. 24, 2010, at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital.Born in Stockbridge, Mass., the daughter of Herbert M. and Laura (Davis) Cooper, she was a graduate of Williams High School in Stockbridge and attended the former Berkshire Business School in Pittsfield, Mass.Mrs. Kendall was employed in the clerical department for several years at the American Institute for Economic Research in Great Barrington, Mass. After moving to Connecticut, she worked for the Phoenix Insurance Co., and later was office manager for a privately owned insurance company, both in Hartford.She was an active member of the New London Senior Center and enjoyed taking trips organized by the center. She and her late husband traveled frequently.Mrs. Kendall and her husband George were married in 1969. He died in 1993.She is survived by a sister, Grace C. Johnson of Lenox, Mass.; her sister-in-law, Joan Cooper of Pittsfield, Mass.; and two nieces and two nephews.She was predeceased by her sister, Alice C. Purser of Gulfport, Miss., and her brother, Raymond M. Cooper of Lee, Mass.A graveside burial service will be held in the Stockbridge Town Cemetery at the convenience of the family. There will be no visiting hours.In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Kendall's memory may be made to the Senior Center of New London Connecticut and forwarded to Mrs. Grace Johnson, 235 Walker St., Apt. 126, Lenox MA 01240, as well as any remembrances or condolences.
