ELLSWORTH - Marian Elaine (Maddocks) Jordan, 86, passed away Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009. She was born July 6, 1923, at Ellsworth Falls, the youngest of five children of Ira and Annie Maddocks. A 1942 graduate of Ellsworth High School, Marian worked for J. J. Newberry and Thompson's Variety Store, and in 1943 married Rodney A. Jordan. She was later employed by New England Telephone Co., where she worked as an operator for 18 years, retiring in 1978. In their retirement, Marian and Rodney enjoyed an extended RV trip, traveling to Alaska and throughout Canada. They also spent many pleasant times relaxing at their camp on Molasses Pond. Marian is survived by her devoted husband of 66 years, Rodney; one son, Barry A. Jordan and his wife, Marianne, of Ellsworth; a grandson, Benjamin A. Jordan and his wife, Michelle, of Windham; a granddaughter, Sarah E. Warner and her husband, Mark, of Ellsworth; two great-grandsons, Elliot A. Jordan and Nathan Pl. Jordan of Windham; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Sadie Franklin; and brothers, Elmer, Lewis and Irving Maddocks. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Oct. 18 at Woodbine Cemetery, Washington Junction Road, Ellsworth, with the Rev. Nicholas G. Davis III of First Congregational Church, UCC, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Marian's name may be made to Emergency Room Building Campaign, Maine Coast Memorial Hospital, 50 Union St., Ellsworth, ME 04605. Arrangements are under the care of Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, 215 Main St., Ellsworth.
