Obituary of Margaret-Mary Lacey

LACEY, Margaret Mary October 8th, 1920 May 31st, 2008 It's with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother Margaret Lacey (Marnie) on May 31st, 2008 at the Palliative Care Unit in Nanaimo, BC. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba to parents Herbert George Waight and Margaret Isabel Waight (Taylor) from London, England. Marnie lived in Victoria since 1930 and was schooled at St. Ann's Academy. She was extremely proud of St. Ann's restoration. Margaret and her two sisters Sybel and Francis, were in the school photograph taken in 1937! She was a member of the St. Patrick's Church and before that, "Our Lady Of Lourdes. " Margaret was an avid Monarchist who followed Queen Elizabeth and the Royal family and flew her flag. She was a voracious reader who traveled extensively throughout Europe. She was a longtime employee and volunteer at the Jubilee Hospital. Mom loved to go camping, she would pack up the grandchildren and take off on a moment's notice and not be seen for a week! She was a great mom and a wonderful grandmother and will be dearly missed and remain in our hearts forever. Margaret was predeceased by her two sons Robert Morris and Joseph Graham, her brother Herbert (Bert) and two sisters, Sybel and Frances Waight. She leaves to mourn her daughter Charlain Lingsstrom (Paul); sons, George (Sandy), Richard (Michelle), and Douglas James Lacey. Grandchildren: Debbie, Michael, Nicholas, Anna, Andrea, Richard, Laura Lee, Gary and Christopher and nine great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and their families and many friends. With many thanks to Erica Turner, Dr. Rudston-Brown and Dr. P. Vreede for their loving care. To the Staff at the Kiwanis and the Palliative Care Unit Nanaimo Hospital, the family thanks you for your love and support. "Requiescat in Pace " A celebration of Margaret's life will take place on June the 8th at 1PM in the Frith Auditorium, Kiwanis Village, 1233 Kiwanis Crescent, Nanaimo BC.
