Margaret Hall Graves James, 89, a resident of Foothills Presbyterian Home, Easley, died Wednesday, October 14, 2009. Born in York County, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Martin Brian and Candace Quinn Hall. Mrs. James was a 1941 graduate of Winthrop College. Before her retirement, she taught Math at Greenville High School for many years. She had been a member of First Presbyterian Church since 1953. She was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her sons, Jennings Lee Graves; her second husband, Thomas Jackson James; and a brother, Martin Hall. Surviving, are three sons, Jennings "Sonny" Graves and wife, Jean, of Greenville, James Graves and wife, Susan, of Pawley's Island, John Graves and wife, Shari, of Greenville; a sister, Susan Hall Mahon of Laurens; two brothers, John Hall and wife, Jean, of York, S.C. and Dan Hall and wife, Margie, of York, S.C.; six grandchildren, Jennings Graves, Lauren Boykin, Lindsay Weathers, Alex Graves, Jamie Wilson and Amanda Graves; and five great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Foothills Presbyterian Home, 205 Bud Nalley Drive, Easley, SC 29642 or Thornwell Home for Children, 302 S. Broad Street, Clinton, SC 29325. The funeral service will be held Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 11 a.m. in Harper Chapel of First Presbyterian Church with visitation following in the church parlor. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown.
