Obituary of Mabel-Allen Henderson

MABEL ALLEN HENDERSON1918-2008Mabel Allen Henderson, Milton, Florida, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, was welcomed into the Portals of Heaven, on Monday, September 22, 2008. Mabel was a loving and caring person who cared for many sick relatives and friends over the years.She was a member of the East Milton Assembly of God Church.She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, H. S. Henderson; her mother, Mary V. Allen; her father, Leon H. Allen; her brother and sister in law, Eugene and Lovie Allen; a son in law, Harry C. Miles; and a step grandson, Wayne Miles.Mrs. Henderson is survived by two daughters, Carol Miles, of Graceville, Florida, and Velma (Charles) Zeigler of Newton, Alabama; one son, Sonny (Marie) Henderson, of Milton; two granddaughters, Linda (Barry) George of Temple, Georgia, and Lydia Henderson of Pensacola. She is also survived by two step grandchildren, five step great grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 pm on Friday, September 26, 2008, at the Milton First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Fred Rogers and Rev. Johnnie Williams officiating.Burial will follow in the Milton Cemetery with Lewis Funeral Home Milton Chapel directing.The family will receive friends from 6 pm until 8 pm on Thursday, September 25, 2008, at the Lewis Funeral Home in Milton.Active Pallbearers will be David McNew, Clifton Wheeler, Guy Whitfield, Jerry Hathaway, James Lansdon, Carlton "Shorty" Ward, Ronald Miles, and John Hathaway.Honorary Pallbearers will be Rev. Curtis Grant, James Earl Barnes, Lonnie Williams, Ray Allen, Jack Hudson, Ben Christian, Jesse Hathaway, and Lester Black.The family would like to say a Special Thank You, to Berryhill Manor Assisted Living Facility, in Milton, and to the Northwest Florida Community Hospital Skilled Nursing Center, in Chipley, Florida, for the loving care given to Mrs. Henderson during her stay at these facilities.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to: Northwest Florida Hospital Skilled Nursing Center Activities Department, Chipley, Florida, Friendship Assembly of God, Building Fund, Cottondale, Florida; or the Milton First Assembly of God Building Fund.After the services, the family will receive friends at the home of Sonny Henderson, 5526 Barcelona Street, Milton, Florida (Pea Ridge area)Friends may send condolences and share fond memories with the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.net
