Stephens - Leon Webster "Len" Ray, age 83, of Stephens, Ga., died Monday, January 25, 2010, at his residence. He was born in Greene County on November 8, 1926, to the late Emmett Ray and Evie Lou McArthy Ray. Len attended school in Thomson and married the former Annette Eley on August 20, 1960. He was a poultry farmer in Stephens and also drove the school bus for Oglethorpe County Schools. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and also attended Purification Catholic Church in Sharon, Ga.In addition to his wife of nearly fifty years, Annette Ray of Stephens, Ga., he is survived by his god children, Gary, Donna and Tyler Porter of Stephens, Ga., and John Taylor of Stephens, Ga.; a niece, Pat Armour of Rayle, Ga.; two sisters, Sarah Chandler of Elberton, Ga., and Ruby Chafin of Rayle, Ga.; and a number of cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a half brother, Wesley Hester.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at 11 a.m. at the Callaway Funeral Home Chapel in Union Point, Ga., with Rev. Jim Olds, Rev. Douglas Butts and Father Chris Williamson officiating. Interment will follow in the Catholic Cemetery of Sharon, Ga. Serving as pallbearers are Gary Porter, John Taylor, Bobby Lankford, Smiley Taylor and Robert "Bob" Hendrick. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m., Tuesday night at Callaway Funeral Home.Callaway Funeral Home, 208 N.
