Kenneth had a very fulfilling, exciting life with many adventures and careers. He joined the Maine National Guard in May 1948 (14 years old) as a member of the 103rd Infantry Heavy Tank Division and spoke many times of driving a tank. He served on three aircraft carriers during the Korean War: the USS Cabot, the USS Coral Sea, and the USS Leyte. He was a member of the crash and rescue crew on the Leyte in 1953 when a tragic explosion and fire killed 37 crewmembers. Ken was recognized for bravery as he went several decks below through smoke and fire to rescue a fellow sailor who was badly burned. He carried his shipmate on his shoulders up several flight decks to safety. On Feb. 3, 1952, Kenneth married Cynthia Desjarlais. Among his many successful career paths, Ken managed the first Dunkin Donuts in Portland in 1961, managed multiple theaters throughout New England, and then began working at Sears as a very successful salesman for the next 25 years until he retired. He also operated his own real estate company, Jordan Realty. He was a member of many civic organizations including the Eagles, Elks, and American Legion.
