Obituary of Katherine Kavanaugh

The death of Katherine Kavanaugh Fairbairn of Fredericton, wife of Harry Fairbairn occurred on Tuesday, November 04, 2003 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born in Salmon Point, Ont., she was a daughter of the late Adrian and Georgina (Miller) Tuttle. Mrs. Fairbairn was a Public Health Nurse from 1949-1993. She was the Atlantic Representative for more than 10 years of the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada. She was a beautiful seamstress, enjoyed music, bird watching, figure skating, cooking and comedy. Katherine's greatest joy came from helping others; her ability to connect emotionally and provide guidance to the people in her life serves as tribute to her caring nature. Besides her husband, she is survived by four sons, Duncan Fairbairn of Fredericton, Todd Fairbairn of Burnaby, BC, Ross Fairbairn of Fredericton and Scott Fairbairn (Beth) of Fredericton; one grandchild, Sydney Erin Fairbairn; two sisters, Peggy Bishop (Norman) and Betty McBurney (William) both of Toronto; two nieces, Elizabeth and Lois Anne Bishop. No Visitation by request. The funeral service will be held from the York Funeral Homes T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Friday, November 7, 2003 at 10 am with Mr. William Walker officiating. Interment will follow in the Fredericton Rural Ext. Cemetery. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, remembrances to the SPCA, Fredericton Food Bank on Grandame Street or to charity of the donors choice would be appreciated by the family.
