Obituary of Kenneth-William O-Meara

KENNETH WILLIAM O'MEARA MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - Kenneth "Bumpa" O'Meara, 79, passed away peacefully on Saturday afternoon (March 27, 2010) surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Nov. 13, 1930 in Topsham, Vt. to Laurence and Lettie Tomlinson O'Meara. Ken graduated from Bradford Academy, Bradford, Vt., and entered the Navy soon after. He married Cathryn M. Clark on June 6, 1950. He was a pharmacist in several areas of Vermont, retiring in Middlebury in 1989. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the American Legion, the Knights of Columbus, and was also a charter member of the Middlebury Volunteer Ambulance Association. Ken is survived by his wife of 60 years, Cathryn C. O'Meara of Middlebury. Also by their six children and spouses: Timothy J. (Lestyn Mattison), Kathleen A., Jerome P (Regina), Patricia J. (Daniel Tatro), Matthew M. (Lynn) and Anne M. Barton (Roy). Many grandchildren/step-grandchildren: Coughlin, Tierney, Colin, Jennifer, Jeffrey, Alex, Kirk, Wendy, Daniel, Brian, Jeremy, Deva. Stephanie, Shannon, Tyler. Tara, Kristy, Tracy and Nicholas, great-grandchildren/step- great-children: David, Bryce, Jason, Adrian Jake, Aly, Serenity, Eva, Colette, Rebekah, Kylie, Megan, Isabella, Dane, Gabriela and Alyssa. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Joyce Stone, his brother Laurence Jr., his son-in-law David B. Stevens and his stepgrandaughter, Christa Souter. He is survived by his brother Kermit and his wife Marilyn. There will be no visiting hours. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Middlebury, Vt. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ken's memory may be made to the Helen Porter Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. The family would like to thank the dedicated and hardworking staff in the Lemon Fair unit of the nursing home. They took exceptional care of our Bumpa and cared for him deeply.
