->Nolan, John HenryRochester: John H. Nolan, 93 loving father and grandfather died peacefully after a short illness on February 13th 2011 at St. John's Home, Rochester, surrounded by family. Nolan was born on October 19th, 1917, to the late Hugh Nolan and Margaret (Colgan) Nolan. He was one of 11 siblings and was the last survivor. He was married and predeceased by his wife Patricia (Dwyer) and two of their children: Timothy Nolan of Rochester and Robert Nolan of Honeoye. He is survived by four children: John P. Nolan and his wife, Ginger, of Rochester, Nancy (Nolan) Collins and her husband Neil of Kennebunkport, ME, Terrance Nolan and his wife Barbara of Rochester and Deborah (Nolan) Reilly and her husband Terence of Pasadena, MD and a daughter in law Barbara (Wietz) Nolan. Nolan had seven grandchildren: Kelly, Nicole, TJ, Neil, Emily, Rick and Kim and 7 great grandchildren: Karli, Jordan, Benicio, Aleah, Niko, Alex and Tino and many nieces and nephews. All will miss his ready smile and gentle teasing. Nolan grew up on Lenox Street and graduated from Aquinas. He studied business at Notre Dame University for two years. He worked in accounting and cost control jobs and joined the County of Monroe in 1962 as an auditor. Later he was treasurer for the City of Rochester. He retired as the director of budget for the Western Regional OTB in1982. Nolan lived on Brooks Avenue in the city's 19th Ward for 58 years and moved to St. John's Meadows in 2006. Always an active and interested citizen, he was a Republican committeeman in the 19th ward for more than 40 years and the Republican leader for the 29th legislative district as well as a member of the 19th Ward Community Association. Nolan was active at Our Lady of Good Counsel for many years with the Men's Club and especially the Legion of Mary. He was a faithful member of the Knights of Columbus and had proudly served as Grand Knight of Council 178.He was a proud Irishman and visited Ireland several times. He held dual citizenship and always participated in the St. Patrick's Day parades downtown. For a number of years, the parade was held in memory of his late son Timothy Nolan. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of St. John's Meadows, Hawthorne and Chestnut Court and Hastings 2 South at St. John's Home, for their friendship, love caring and compassion. The family will receive relatives and friends Friday, February 18th 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the funeral chapel (2305 Monroe Avenue). A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, February 19th at 10:30 AM at St. Monica's Church, 34 Monica Street. Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery on Lake Avenue.
