Obituary of John-Davis Wilkes

John Davis Wilkes passed away at his home in Destin, Fla., on Sunday, March 7, 2010.John was born on Aug. 13, 1919, in Nashville, Tenn., to the late C. Wade Wilkes and Annie Dane Wilkes.He is survived by his loving family, wife, Peggy M. Wilkes; daughters, Dianne Charneco and her husband, Hum-berto, Carol Grunsky and her husband, Charles; grandchildren, Dane, Scotty, Megan Charneco and Mark Grun-sky; sisters, Annette Heindryckx and Dorothy Whited; beloved pets, Happy and Tweety. John was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Courtney Charneco.Services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery on Thursday, June 3, 2010, at the Ft. Myer Old Post Chapel. Interment will follow with full military honors. John was a tactical fighter pilot in World War II.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Courtney's Race for the ARDS Cure, 820 N.
