PETERBOROUGH - Joan A. Dodds, 83, of Peterborough, died on June 30, 2014. She was born in Boston, Mass. on May 20, 1931, and raised in Newton, Mass. by Harvey Alexander and Mildred (Chase) Alexander.Joan married her lifelong partner Russell Dodds in 1953. Together they lived and raised their family in Newton, Mass. and Concord, Mass. In 1977 Joan and Russell moved to Peterborough where they owned and operated Peterboro Basket Company together for more than 30 years.Joan's true passion was her family, whom she loved and cherished. She had a love for dogs too, especially the golden retrievers she owned over the years. Joan also enjoyed going to her home on Marco Island, Fla., a place where she spent her winters and visited frequently. Joan is survived by her son, Wayne Dodds of Peterborough, her daughter, Linda Murdock of Groton, Mass., and brother, Harvey Alexander Jr. of Dennis, Mass. She will also be dearly missed by her granddaughter, Lindsay Farrington and her husband, Eamonn of Groton, Mass. She was looking forward to the birth of her great-grandson in Oct. Services will be private for the family.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joan's memory to Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue at http://www.ygrr.org.
