Obituary of James-Francis Dwyer

DWYER James Francis Dwyer, age 90, who lived most of his life in the Bridgeport area, died peacefully on April 4 at St. Vincent's Medical Center. Jim was born in Bridgeport on October 29, 1917. He met Beatrice Noel while roller skating at Pleasure Beach, and they were married in 1941 in St. Ambrose Church. After their three children were born, they moved their family from Bridgeport to Trumbull in 1956, where they lived until 1991 when they moved to The Villages in Florida. In the spring of 2007, Jim moved to Spring Meadows in Trumbull with his loving wife Bea. Jim graduated from Central High School in 1936. He worked as a machinist at the Bullard Machine Tool Company, retiring after 35 years. He was an active member of St. Teresa?s Church in Trumbull, and was a Past President of the Holy Name Society. After they retired Jim and Bea taught line dancing at the Trumbull Senior Center for 11 years, and in Florida for 17 years. Jim was a past president of the Line Dance Teacher's Association of Connecticut. Jim is survived by his wife Beatrice Noel Dwyer; a daughter Carol Dwyer of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; two sons, James Dwyer of Stratford, and Robert Dwyer and his wife, Cathy of Mystic; a brother, William Dwyer of Sorrento, Fla.; two sisters, Jean Criscione and Mary Ann Oleynik, both of Bridgeport; four grandsons, Daniel Dwyer, Jeff Witkavitch, Brendan Dwyer and Patrick Dwyer; two great-granddaughters, Christina Dwyer and Sarah Dwyer; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, John Dwyer, and two sisters, Catherine Dwyer and Patricia Olson. Friends are invited to a memorial service on Wednesday, April 9, from 4 to 7:30 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 7:30 to 8 p.m. at Cyril F. Mullins Trumbull Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Rd.
