Obituary of John-Daniel Polk


POLK, JOHN DANIEL Age 78, of Chelsea, AL passed away Thursday afternoon, November 8, 2012. The Samford University graduate practiced pharmacy for 50 years, including 28 years with Rite Aid most recently. A U.S. Air Force Veteran, having served in the Korean Conflict, Mr. Polk was a private pilot who loved to take his family above the clouds. Since 1986, he was an active member of Liberty Baptist Church, Chelsea Mr. Polk, a Tyler, TX native, was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Webster Polk and Margaret Esther Stennett Polk. Survivors include his loving wife of almost 54 years, Jan Polk; one daughter, Melody Monella (Timothy); three sons, J. David Polk (Dana), Brian Polk (Lana), and Barron Polk; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three sisters, Margaret Hales, Jane Peterson, and Sarah Barber; and one brother, Joe Polk. Visitation: 12 noon to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at Liberty Baptist Church, Chelsea, immediately followed by the graveside service in Liberty Baptist Cemetery, Chelsea. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, Liberty Baptist Church, 11050 Chelsea Road, Chelsea, AL 35043.
