Obituary of Irene Wheeler


Irene WheelerWheeler, Irene, of Saskatoon, passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2015 at Royal University Hospital. She is survived by her son Roger and his wife Karen of Vernon, BC. Also surviving are her step-grandchildren Jennifer Zaal, Glen Wild and Kaitlin Harrison, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband John in 1978 and her sisters, Jean Moore in 1999, Edna Duncanson and Lillian McConnell in 2015. Irene was born in Humboldt, SK. She married John Wheeler in 1948 and they spent most of their married life in the Unity area. Irene moved to Saskatoon in 1981 and immediately took up tennis again which was her favorite pastime. She was a member of Riverside Badminton & Tennis Club for many years. She was a life member of the Nutana Lioness Club; also a member of the Saskatoon Duplicate Bridge Club for some years and a member of the Happy Unit of Bethel United Church U.C.W. A Graveside Service for Irene will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 4, 2015 at Woodlawn Cemetery. (Please meet outside the main gates for 1:50 p.m. before processing in.)
