Obituary of Gilles Sainte-Marie

SAINTE-MARIE, GillesMay 13, 1953 - December 7, 2011It is with infinite sadness that we announce the passing of our Gilles on December 7, at home surrounded by love, after a year-long journey with cancer. He was truly one of a kind, and we are so privileged that he was ours to know and to love. Gilles leaves the greatest legacy and the light of his life, his son Théo. His wonderful exploits and stories will live forever in the heart and memory of his Joan. He lived this journey in great dignity, surrounded by the love, care and understanding of his wife and son, and of the finest friends one could ever hope for - he loved us all so deeply. Gilles was the son of the late Jean-Paul Sainte-Marie and the late Mariette Beaudry, and they would both have been proud knowing the pure joy he lived as the father of Théo. A memorial service in January will be announced at a later date. Our deepest gratitude is extended to the oncology team at the Jewish General Hospital, to our dear friend Shulim Rubin, and to Dr. Louise Lessard and the home care team of the CLSC St-Louis-du-Parc. We strongly encourage that donations be made in his memory to the Jewish General Hospital Segal Cancer Centre.
