Eleanor James, 88 MONROE, Ga. -- Eleanor James, 88, of Monroe, Ga., died on Jan. 13, 2009. She was born in Kennebec County, on Oct. 11, 1920, to the late Leroy Welsh and the late Ethel Welsh. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Phillip James Sr.; her sisters, the late Mildred Slocum and the late Marguerite Phillis. Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Gerry Cameron of Chelsea, Joyce and Brian Nelson of Dacula, Ga., Carol and Ross Cook of Charleston, N.H., son and daughter- in-law, Phillip and Helen James of Monroe; sister Rowena James of Plantsville, Conn., brothers Leroy Welsh Jr. of Clinton, and William Welsh of Freeport; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and two great- great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Friday, Jan. 16, 2009, at 2 p.m., at the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home, Ga., with the Rev. Brad Waters officiating. Interment followed at Westlawn Cemetery. Meadows Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of arrangements.
