Obituary of Elaine-R. Jensen

JEFFERSON -- Elaine R. Jensen, 74, of South Clary Road died Friday, Aug. 26, 2005, at the Maine Veterans Home in Augusta.She was born in East Braintree, Mass., on May 19, 1931, the daughter of Frank and S. Marie (Lunden) Lehtonen.Elaine graduated from Braintree High School as salutatorian and later from Colby College, class of 1952.She was a homemaker most of her life, raising her six children. Being the wife of an Air Force career man (retired), they lived in many different states, with Alaska being one of her favorites. They settled in Michigan in 1969 where her husband retired from the Air Force in 1972. In 1987, they moved to Union to care for her parents.Elaine enjoyed flower gardening, going out to restaurants with family and friends, watching the Red Sox, and in her earlier years, playing the piano. She also enjoyed bird watching.She was predeceased by a daughter, Cynthia Brenholtz, in 1995.She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Robert Jensen of Jefferson; two sons, Paul Jensen and his wife, Carol of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Dana Jensen of Vero Beach, Fla.; three daughters, Susan Kader and her husband, Martin, of Augusta, Laura Eberle and her husband, Gerry, of Lakewood, Colo., and Christina Jensen of Greenwood Village, Colo.; a son-in-law, David Brenholtz of Littleton, Colo.; eight grandchildren and several cousins.A memorial service will take place 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 2, at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1 Church St., Augusta.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jimmy Fund, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02455-1295.http://www.khrfuneralhomes.com
