Obituary of Edward-Francis Hawley


HAWLEY Edward Francis, 90, of Ridgefield Park, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 21, after a long illness. He was born and raised in New York City.Beloved husband of Audrey (nee Salvesen) for 60 years. Loving father to Stephen and his wife Jeannie, and to Daniel and his wife Mary. Devoted grandfather to Adam and his wife Amanda, and to Christopher and Brian.Proud great-grandfather to Alec, Aaron and Ashley. Uncle to Maureen, Vincent, Lisa and Monica. Brother-in-law to Martin Salvesen and step-brother-in-law to Meinich Aasterbol and his wife Barbro of Norway. Ed loved his family dearly.For over 50 years, he was a member of Saint Francis of Assisi Church, Ridgefield Park, serving as Eucharistic Minister, usher, member of the Finance Committee and the Holy Name Society. Also, a supporter of Xavier High School and the Jesuit Order in New York City. A longtime member of Sons of Norway Lodge.In 1990 he retired as Traffic Manager from Patent Construction Systems, a Division of Harsco Corporation. Previously, he worked many years for the Railway Express Agency.Funeral from Vorhees-Ingwersen Funeral Home 59 Main St. Ridgefield Park on Friday at 10:30 AM. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Francis RC Church, Ridgefield Park at 11am. Interment George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.
